CUP COMPETITION

How it Works

Depending on the number of players registered in a league, a range of different knockout tournaments could run across the course of the season. This is explained below:

  • 1-7 players = No cup will run
  • 8-15 players = Gold Cup
  • 16-23 players = Gold Cup and Silver Cup leading to Platinum Cup
  • 24 players = Gold Cup, Silver Cup and Bronze Cup leading to Platinum Cup
Qualifying

The quarter final of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Cups takes place in GW24, the semi final takes place in GW30 and the final takes place in GW36. The Platinum Cup (a single GW competition for the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Cups) takes place in GW38.

Which cup a player qualifies for depends on their league position at the end of GW23.

  • Positions 1-8 = Gold Cup
  • Positions 9-16 = Silver Cup
  • Positions 17-24 = Bronze Cup

If a player is a member of more than one league, they may qualify for a different cup in each league, depending on their respective positions.

Every player will not necessarily qualify for a place in a cup, regardless of what cups are being run. For example, if there are 12 players registered in the league, the Gold Cup will run but only the top 8 teams at the end of GW23 will qualify to compete. If there are 19 players registered in the league, the Gold Cup and Silver Cup will run but only the top 16 players at the end of GW23 will qualify to compete in these cups.

Any player outside of the top 24 at the end of GW23 will not qualify to take part in the cup competition.

Winning a Round

Rounds are won by the players with the biggest goal difference that GW.

Drawn cup matches are won by the player with the biggest current season goal difference.

If this is also equal, the player with the highest current league position wins the round.

If a player misses the GW deadline and is awarded a -3 goal loss for the GW, they will not progress to the next round of the cup if their opponent submitted their GW picks on time – regardless of their opponent’s GW goal difference.

Platinum Cup

The Platinum Cup is a completely separate competition to the AVD League and as such, a players’ performance in the cup does not affect their position in the league whatsoever.

Players qualify for the Platinum Cup by winning the Gold, Silver or Bronze Cup. The Platinum Cup is won by the cup winner with the biggest ‘Platinum Total’ at the end of GW38.

In addition to qualifying for the Platinum Cup, if a player wins the Bronze Cup they are given 5 cup bonus points. If they win the Silver Cup, they are given 10 cup bonus points and if they win the Gold Cup, they are given 15 cup bonus points.

Each cup winners’ overall season goal difference, longest winning streak and cup bonus points are added together to give their ‘Platinum Total’.

This total is shared with cup winners at the end of GW37, however, it is important to realise that (because of how it is calculated), this total is likely to change slightly by the end of GW38 and is only shared at the end of GW37 as a reference to help cup winners decide if they want to activate their ‘Special Multiplier’ for GW38 itself (as described below).

The Special Multiplier is a type of multiplier that can only be used by players in the Platinum Cup for GW38 which can be used alongside a ‘normal’ Attack or Points Multiplier.

If a player activates their Special Multiplier and their result for GW38 is a win, their GW38 Platinum Total is doubled, however, if a player activates their Special Multiplier and their result for GW38 is a draw or a loss, their GW38 Platinum Total is halved.

If a player chooses not to activate their Special Multiplier, their GW38 Platinum Total remains the combined total of their overall season goal difference, longest winning streak and cup bonus points.

The player with the highest Platinum Total at the end of GW38 is the Platinum Cup winner. If this result is a draw, the player with the highest final AVD League position wins.
